Deland Moving: Mastering the Stress-Free Move

Wed, Jun 17, 2015 at 1:55PM

A stress-free move may seem like a crazy idea—but it doesn’t have to be! Taking out the stress from your moving process is simply a matter of cutting down the things that tend to stress you out: clutter, time crunches, and living out of brown cardboard boxes for weeks at a time, to name a few. Today, we’ll be looking at the best ways to do just that.

A big move doesn’t always happen at the “right” time; maybe you have to move quickly for work or are ending your lease at the last minute. And even if you are moving at the ideal time, you can still feel pressure to get your whole house packed up and ready to go in a short amount of time. This is why more and more people are turning to full service movers to handle the moving process from start to finish. Enlisting the help of full service movers ensures that you don’t need to worry about picking up boxes, packing, loading the truck and unpacking at your new home—we take care of it all for you. While this service makes sense for any move, it can be especially helpful to you if you’re working against the clock or dealing with other commitments—work or family, for instance—that make devoting attention to a move difficult.

That being said, whether you’re opting for a full service move, just need help with the truck and loading up, or prefer a more hands on approach to your move, there are several steps you can take to simplifying the process.

First, reduce the amount of time that your house is in move-mode—that is, the time that your house is full of cardboard boxes and packing clutter. By keeping your home as tidy and calm as possible (for as long as possible), you can make the process of a move that much easier on everyone involved. As soon as you possibly can before a move, you’ll want to start organizing and de-cluttering your space by getting rid of the things you don’t use or need and straightening up what’s left. This is a common step in the moving process, but if you can get it done beforehand, you’re making the task of packing everything into boxes a much easier and quicker one. Even if you haven’t found a new home yet, this is a helpful step to get out of the way.

If you’re packing your home yourself, do so with the right supplies and tools to make the job easier and more organized. Use permanent markers to designate what’s being packed away in your plain brown boxes, and tape them up carefully (with packing paper or bubble wrap for delicate items). Remember, it’s often easier to sort through and unpack several smaller boxes with similar items than one or two big ones with assorted contents. Using other moving supplies such as box cutters and dollies or hand carts can further expedite the process (and make it easier on your back!).

Aren’t quite sure what type of move is right for you, or where to begin the process? Call us at (855) 222-6128 and we’ll find a way to help—whether that means scheduling a full service move or getting you the right tools for the job.
